It was a carnival -like occasion on  September 6, 2025 at Osi-Ekiti, a town located in Ido-Osi Local Government Area in Ekiti State, as the title “Yeye Oge” was conferred on an accomplished manager with over three decades of entrepreneurial achievement and a politician, Hon Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Alabi Bello in a colourful ceremony.

The Yeye Oge installation in Osi-Ekiti, which was part of the first year anniversary of the Olosi of Osi-Ekiti, Oba Steve Alabi, was a vibrant and joyous event showcasing the rich culture and colours of Osi-Ekiti. Upon the arrival of Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Alabi Bello at the venue, the entourage danced in a carnival-like procession to pay homage to the Olosi of Ekiti before the commencement of the first anniversary celebration.

The installation Ceremony of Yeye Oge began with the presentation of the Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Alabi Bello to the Olosi of Osi Ekiti. This was followed by the symbolic rites and blessing by Oba Adejimi Adu, Chairman , Ekiti State council of traditional rulers before the official pronouncement of the title as Yeye Oge of Osi Ekiti by HRM Oba Steve Alabi, the Olosi of Osi-Ekiti kingdom.

In her response, the Yeyo Oge of Osi Ekiti, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Alabi Bello, praised the Kabiyesi for his continuous support and prayed for a long life for the Kabiyesi.

With an aura of pure royalty, the newly installed Yeye Oge then moved from one place to another, acknowledging cheers from the guests who came from all parts of the world to witness the epoch-making event before proceeding to the beautifully decorated venue for the reception party.

Wearing her second outfit, the Yeye Oge and backed by her husband, family members, radiantly dressed ladies in purple lace attire, as well as other guests, danced majestically into the hall for the commencement of the reception party.

The atmosphere at the reception venue was a mix of vibrant colours of traditional attire, the rhythmic sounds of cultural drumming, and a celebratory atmosphere.

Prominent guests in attendance were traditional rulers, political leaders within and outside Ekiti State. Performances by popular musicians and cultural dance troupes entertained the guests, encouraging them to dance for hours.

The installation of a Yeye Oge is a significant event within the Yoruba culture, recognizing a respected woman for her contributions to her community. Indeed, the presence of many community members at the celebration underscored the strong bond and affection they have for the newly installed Yeye Oge.
